Dr. Efi Nisiforou is a Lecturer in Distance Education in the School of Education, University of Nicosia. Her research interests include human computer interaction (HCI), technology-enhanced learning (TEL), instructional design and evaluation of online learning environments, personalised learning and educational neuroscience and integration of new technologies in all levels of education. As a researcher, she has published papers in international conferences and journals and has received EU research funding. She also participates as a project manager, coordinator and national partner in various research projects.

                                              Dr Sotiris Themistokleous is an Assistant Director in CARDET, where he also works as a Project Coordinator and Researcher. He holds a

                                              B.A. in International Relations, EU and Diplomacy from ACT, Greece and an M.Sc. in Global Politics from Birkbeck College, University of

                                              London. Currently he is a Ph.D. candidate in Education, Social Networks and Online Games at the University of Nicosia. He has been

                                              involved for the past 10 years in more than 50 projects as a field researcher and a member of the Project Management Team. His research

                                              expertise is related to communities of practice and social networks, vocational training, learning needs assessment, social entrepreneurship,

                                              social media and innovative pedagogies. He has managed research on online games, capacity building for education, the relationship of

                                              academia to the corporate world and SME practices. Currently he is involved in projects related to Social Network, Social Entrepreneurship

                                              and Sustainable Development. He has published articles on inclusion, access to the labor market, the social effects of the academia-market

                                              relations and the impact of the financial crisis on the labor market.

CARDET is one of the leading research and development centres in the Mediterranean region with global expertise in project design and implementation, capacity building, and e-learning. CARDET is independently affiliated with universities and institutions from around the world, such as the Yale University and the International Council of Educational Media. It has completed numerous projects relating to the development of capacity building and planning in education and VET, social justice and integration, inclusive education, adult learning, youth support eLearning, educational technology, skills and gap assessments in educational institutions, civic engagement, social integration, and quality assurance.


CARDET brings together an international team of experts with decades of global expertise in research, foresight, educational technology, instructional design, eLearning, professional capacity building, design thinking, innovation, social and economy integration and human resource development.


Our team have successfully participated in more than 150 projects in more than 45 countries, several of which were supported by the European Commission, the United Nations Development Program, Microsoft, The Commonwealth of Learning, international agencies and governments. One of our core-strengths is our ability to carefully plan, implement, execute and evaluate projects in various contexts. The management team is supported by 10 members of the board and advisory board, who are all international veterans in education, business, research, and evaluation. We currently employ 30 full time and part time staff, the majority of whom hold graduate degrees (Masters and/or Ph.D) in areas of social sciences, business, education, instructional design, multimedia development, and evaluation.


We follow a systemic and systematic process in thoroughly planning and executing projects. CARDET is ISO 9001 certified for quality in management, research, and education services. We have developed and implemented lifelong learning projects and conducted large scale evaluations of education programs around the world and are one of the premier education and innovation organisations in Cyprus with extensive experience developing and implementing education programs.
