Prof. Tim Thompson Teesside University
Tim Thompson is a Professor of Applied Biological Anthropology in the School of Science
& Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Forensic Science Society, on the Council for the
British Association for Biological Anthropology and Osteoarchaeology, and on the editorial
board for the Journal of Forensic Sciences. Tim is also Managing & Creative Director for
the digital company ‘anthronomics’. His main areas of research focus on the human body
and how it changes, particularly in the modern context. With this comes an interest in how
the body is represented and presented, whether this is through aspects of identity or
methods of imaging. The application of virtual worlds and other digital tools to the
biological anthropological arena has great potential, and he is actively exploring this
further, for the benefit of teaching, research and practice in his subject.
