Prof. Marina Bers Tufts University
My research interests are in virtual worlds for education; new interfaces for learning,
robotics for young children; and the uses of technology for positive youth development.
My work involves the design and study of innovative learning technologies to promote
youth development. At Tufts I head the interdisciplinary Developmental Technologies
research group. Over the past fourteen years I have conceived and designed diverse
technological tools ranging from robotics to virtual worlds and conducted studies in
schools, after school programs and hospitals, in the US, Argentina, Colombia, Spain,
Costa Rica and Thailand. I teach seminars on learning technologies for educators
and do consulting on the use of technologies to promote positive youth development.
