Helen Farley University of South Queensland
Dr Helen Farley is Director of the Digital Life Lab at the University of Southern
Queensland, Australia. Helen is building on USQ’s early lead in the use of virtual worlds
in higher education. She was the project leader of the UQ Religion Bazaar project at the
University of Queensland on which she has written several publications and conference
presentations. She is currently working with a range of academics on virtual archaeology,
language learning in Second Life, virtual and indigenous builds as restorative
environments, and mobility in higher education. Her research interests revolve around
learning futures, the affordances of virtual worlds for higher education, postgraduate
supervision in VWs and immersion and presence. She is also interested in and published
on MulSeMedia, gestural interfaces and authentic movement in 3D virtual spaces.
